Modern tapas are a long-standing trend in Sevilla, many places do them well, and we think La Pepona has secured a spot at the top of that list. It’s unbelievable how many creative classics you can enjoy in restaurants around Sevilla, like each chef has a mental copy of The Flavour Thesaurus in their heads and keeps mixing things up without tire. This certainly seems to be the case at La Pepona, and then some. La Pepona is the cool kid that doesn’t try to be and their dishes have sophistication without pretense.

The feeling in the space is both classy and casual, reinforcing the striking balance among all of the elements you experience at La Pepona. No one is looking for labels here; this isn’t a fusion restaurant nor a Mediterranean tapas bistro, experimental concept space or anything else the local foodies could think up. Defining what La Pepona does is surprisingly simple: they are a great restaurant that serves great food and obviously cares about doing it. Their “concept” is to play with their ingredients, to use good products and do surprising things with them. The food here is whimsey on a plate and you get the feeling that the minds behind La Pepona have in-depth experience with cuisines around the world beyond those of the Iberian peninsula or even Continental Europe
