If you want to familiarize yourself with Spanish flavors but aren’t ready to jump straight into the world of Spanish cuisine, or if you just need a break from traditional Spanish foods, Món gets the job done. With an ultra-central location in Valencia, a large, trendy interior, a quiet back terrace that’s great for outdoor dining and live entertainment including Flamenco, it’s no surprise that Món gets a good share of visitors’ business.
The food at Món is billed as “Mediterranean cuisine with an international touch.” While we found that to be an accurate enough description, most of the dishes felt a bit overworked and superfluous in contrast to typical, authentic Spanish cuisine. The presentation of dishes errs on the side of flashy, with obvious attention paid to aesthetics in the form of details like metallic salt crystals. That being said, the food does have Spanish roots, it tastes good, and some of the creative liberties taken at Món really pay off. The daily menu which includes a starter, main, beverage and dessert or coffee for twelve euro is a more-than-fair deal but the regular menu items are unusually pricy for Spain. The service at Món was friendly and although this restaurant is clearly geared towards foreigners, it’s definitely one of the better places for a menú in the area.
