Situated in the picturesque city of Mdina, Fontanella not only boasts a comprehensive dessert menu, but some of the best panoramic views in all of Malta. On a clear day, you can see all the way across the country to the coastal capital of Valetta and beyond. Enjoy a light lunch on Fontalnella’s sun-soaked terrace or just sit back and snack while you take in the sprawling landscape. Although famous for their home-made cakes, Fontanella also offers a few savory Maltese specialties, including one of our favorites, pastizzi; crisp pouches of puff pastry filled with either ricotta cheese or a spiced pea mix. After tasting one, you won’t have to be convinced to finish your vegetables, you’ll be eager to order more.
