Gelato

Type: gelateria

When it comes to selection of pure ingredients and making even the most simple flavors taste absolutely divine, Grom is at the top of their game. There is usually a line out the door but, for a scoop or two of their gelato, it’s definitely worth the wait. Aside from the line, Grom doesn’t look like a typical gelateria; there are no glass cases displaying brightly-hued flavors and no colorful plastic spoons. The gelatos at Grom, made fresh daily and with a taste to match, are kept in lidded troughs and the spoons are ivory, and environmentally friendly.

The spoons aren’t the only natural thing at Grom though. Just about everything they make has the well being of our planet in mind. This is a company that is all about transparency, from the fully disclosed list of ingredients, to descriptions of what goes into each and every product, to open visits to their organic farm, Mura Mura, and, last but not least, their Grom Loves World campaign where you can read all about the actions they take to give back.

Sticking to Italian traditions and sustainable practices, flavors at Grom are seasonal. There is always a list of main flavors, available year round, plus monthly specials and sorbets and granitas that make the most out of their home-grown produce when it’s ripe and at its best. The Fiordilatte and Crema di Grom are two of our favorite flavors and complement one another beautifully. The former is creamy and fresh while the latter is rich and custardy with contrast added by flakes of chocolate and crumbles of sweet corn-flour biscuits. Grom is the kind of place you’ll want to return to time and time again, both for the quality of their product and their constantly rotating selection of flavors. Next time we’ll be on the lookout for Zabaione, inspired by the Italian custard dessert made with Marsala wine. Yum!
